Cooking Instructions:
Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F).
Prepare Potatoes:
Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
Cook Lamb Mixture:
While the potatoes cook, sauté onions and carrots in a large pan until soft. Add the minced lamb, browning it thoroughly. Stir in garlic, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, herbs, and stock. Simmer for about 20 minutes until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
Mash Potatoes:
Drain the potatoes and mash with butter and milk. Season with salt and pepper.
Assemble:
Spoon the lamb mixture into a baking dish. Top with mashed potatoes. If desired, sprinkle with grated cheese.
Bake:
Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes until golden.
Rest:
Let the pie rest for 15 minutes before serving.
To Serve:
Serve hot, ideally with steamed green vegetables or a crisp salad for a complete meal.
Notes:
You can substitute lamb with beef for a Cottage Pie variation.
Feel free to add peas or other vegetables to the lamb mixture.
